Hello, is it hot as blazes where you are? We are in high 90s and real feel is over near 105. So time outside is limited for most.
The geese were in the road right outside the neighborhood eating supper, mmm…those grasshoppers are good eating for them! Thank goodness they are smart about getting away from cars.
There have been a couple of sunflower heads drying inside but they are quite as photogenic as these were.
It’s time for harvesting hydrangeas here. Or so I think. I usually wait too late and have too many brown spots. I check every day and have been taking a few everyday. I adore hydrangeas and watching the different shades they take on. They go through so many changes before their season is over. They are consuming with their beauty are they not?
I am drying them upstairs in a sunny room where no air is blowing on them. They are all in some water to extend their life and hopefully retain some color. I don’t know if it will help but it’s worth a try.
The 4th of July was quiet but full of gratitude at our home.
Be sure and check out all about the chanterelle mushrooms growing this time of year. They taste fantastic and are good for you but you need to know the difference between it and the not so good ones. They can be pricey if you are dining out so there’s lots of tricks to learn here. I have a whole post on it here. https://justjanblog.com/2014/08/10/chanterelle-mushrooms/
